Xiaomi Filed Patent for a Folding Phone
The patent, filed in late 2019, shows that Xiaomi has filed a patent for a foldable smartphone design. The design is similar to the Huawei Mate X and it is possible that this will be the next phone from Xiaomi.
The smartphone has a foldable display that folds outwards. A bar can be seen which holds the camera setup and also is the thickest part of the phone. There are no selfie cameras available so the primary cameras at the bar are the only cameras available for closeup shots as well.
The Mate X has a very similar charging port to the iPhone 6s. It is located at the bottom of the phone, and houses the cameras. This also makes it easy to hold onto the phone when it is in an unfolded position.
The patent application filed by Xiaomi shows that they are working on a foldable phone that could compete with the Galaxy Fold and the very expensive Mate X. If they could bring a cheap folding phone to compete with these devices, they would be able to really perform well in the foldable smartphone bracket.
The Xiaomi smartphone, which is currently available for purchase on the Chinese market, has a self-portrait camera that can take pictures and videos in real-time while the phone is in use. The camera is said to be able to capture stunning selfies with a resolution of up to 8MP.
Xiaomi has filed a patent for a phone with a twisting camera. The phone would allow users to take photos and videos in different directions, which could be useful for capturing unique perspectives. ..
