The Trump administration is considering a plan to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which allows undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children to stay and work. Microsoft has released a warning for a “wormable” critical Windows DNS server vulnerability. This vulnerability could allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (DoS) attack. The vulnerability is present in the Windows DNS server component of the Microsoft Windows operating system and is located in the DNS server component of the Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012, and 2016 operating systems. The vulnerability can be exploited by running a specially crafted DNS query, as demonstrated by the example below. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker would need to have access to a vulnerable DNS server and be able to send requests to that server. This attack could also be used against other servers that are part of an infrastructure that is used by other Microsoft products, such as Exchange Server or SQL Server. Microsoft has released a warning for this wormable critical Windows DNS server vulnerability. If you are using a vulnerable Windows DNS server, please update your software as soon as possible.
