Outlook is a great email client for corporate employees, but I’m not a big fan of it for my personal email. However, before Windows 10, I had no other option other than using Outlook or keeping one tab open in Chrome all the time for my email.
The new Mail, Calendar and People apps can all be synced with Gmail, Google Calendar and Google contacts, respectively. The best part for me, however, is that the apps look really slick and I actually like using them. In this article, I’ll show you how to quickly and easily get your Google account synced with Windows 10.
Setup Gmail in Windows 10 Mail App
To get started, let’s setup the Mail app first. The great thing about the three apps in Windows 10 is that they are all integrated. Once you add your Google account to the one app, it will automatically be added to the other two apps too. In addition, each app has links to the other apps in the sidebar, so it’s super easy to switch between them. ..
To open the Mail app, just click on the Start button and type in “Mail.” The top result should be the “Mail – Trusted Microsoft Store app.” ..
The Mail app is split into three sections: on the left is the sidebar where you will see your list of email accounts and folders, the middle is where a short description of the all the emails in that folder will appear and the right pane will show the full individual email.
If you are using Gmail, select Gmail. If you are using iCloud, select iCloud. If you are using Microsoft Exchange, select Microsoft Exchange. If you are not using a service provider, click on the “Create account” button and then choose your email service provider.
You can add an Outlook.com account, Exchange account, Yahoo email, iCloud email or any other POP or IMAP enabled email account to your computer. In our case, we will select Google as the email provider. Go ahead and enter your Google credentials and click Allow to let Windows access your email, calendars and contacts.
If all went well, your account has been added to Windows and you should see a successful message indicating that.
After you’ve updated your Gmail account, all of your email should now show up inside the Mail app. You can see all of your email by default in the Inbox folder, but you can also see all of your email by following these steps:
- Open the Mail app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap on the Inbox icon at the top left corner of the screen.
- Under “All Mail,” tap on “Show All.” ..
If you have a lot of Gmail labels, it’s a good idea to right-click and choose Add to Favorites so that they’ll show up under the Inbox folder.
If you want to change the default email download behavior of the Mail app, you need to go into settings. If the left sidebar is not already expanded, you can expand it by clicking on the three horizontal lines at the top left. Then, click on the gear icon at the bottom right of the sidebar.
The Mail app on the iPhone has a slide-in panel where you can adjust various settings for the Mail app. The top setting is Manage accounts, which lets you manage your email, contacts, and other account data.
To adjust settings for an email account, click on the account name in the left column of the Email Accounts screen. In our case, it’s Gmail. Next, click on the Settings button in the toolbar at the top of the screen. On the Settings page, you can adjust a variety of settings for your email account. Some common adjustments include: -The email address you use to sign in to your email account -The password for your email account -The time zone that your email account is set to -How frequently your messages are checked for new content ..
To change the name of your email account, click on the account name in the upper left corner of the Email Accounts dialog box. Then, in the Account Name field, type a new name for your email account. Click OK to close the dialog box. To delete your email account, click on the trash can icon next to your email account name in the upper left corner of the Email Accounts dialog box. Then, in the Account Name field, type a new name for your email account and press Enter. The Email Accounts dialog box will close and your email account will be deleted. ..
If you want to keep your email sync settings as they are, you can click the “No new email downloaded” button. If you want to download all new emails and images when they’re sent, then you’ll need to choose the “Download full message and images” option.
To sync your contacts and calendars, choose Sync now. To download email from a specific date or time, choose any time.
If you want to disable all of your apps in one go, you can do so by going to Settings > Apps and disabling all the ones you don’t want. ..
Sync Google with Calendar and People Apps
To get started, open the Calendar app on your Windows 10 device. Next, open the People app and select your Google account from the list of accounts. Your Google calendars and contacts will be displayed in the Calendar and People apps, just as if they were stored locally on your device. ..
You can open the People app and see that it looks very similar to the other two apps. Microsoft did a good job of making them all have the same look and feel.
Syncing your Google email, contacts, and calendar with Windows 10 has been a smooth experience so far. Microsoft is constantly updating the apps to make them better, so enjoy! ..
