In order to completely remove Java from your computer, you will need to take a few steps. First, you will need to uninstall Java from your computer. Second, you will need to create a new Java profile. Finally, you will need to set up a security exception for Java.

To uninstall Java versions older than Java 8, you can use the Java uninstaller tool.

Is Java Installed?

If you don’t see the Java icon, then you may not have Java installed on your computer. To check if you have Java installed, go to the Control Panel and look for the Java icon. If you see it there, then you have Java installed.

You can disable Java in your web browser by using this control panel option. I’ll explain that option below also. If you go back to the Control Panel and click on Programs and Features, you can see all the different versions of Java installed on your computer.

I uninstall Java on Windows by going to the Start screen and typing “java” into the search bar.

Remove Older Versions of Java

To uninstall Java, you can download and install the latest version of Java, which will automatically check for older versions and then uninstall the latest version.

The Java applet will check your Java version and remove out-of-date versions if there are older versions. If there are, you will get a message telling you the versions and giving you the ability to uninstall them.

To uninstall Java, click on the Uninstall Selected Versions button and then select Java 8 Update 65. After it’s uninstalled, you’ll be prompted to restart your computer. Click on the Restart Now button to complete the uninstallation process. ..

Disable Java

To disable Java on your computer, open the Control Panel and click on Java. Then click on the Security tab.

Disable Java in Internet Explorer to avoid potential security risks. Chrome no longer supports Java, so you’re safe there. ..

To disable Java in Firefox, you must first click on Tools, then Add-ons and select Plugins. Then click on Java Platform and then click on Disable. Note that even though Java is disabled, it can become outdated and still present a security vulnerability to your computer since it is installed.

Uninstall Java in Windows

To uninstall Java, first remove the older versions like shown above and then go to Control Panel and Programs and Features. Click on the latest Java version listed there and click on Uninstall.

This is all you need to do to remove Java from your computer. Just download the JavaRa app and run it. You’ll see a couple of icons, but the one we want to use is Remove Java Runtime.

On the second screen, you’ll see that the uninstaller was found and it will start to uninstall Java. Just click on the Next button.

The most important part of this program is Step 2. Here you want to click the Perform Removal Routine button, which will remove any leftover files, folders and Java registry entries.

After uninstallating Java using its own tools, JavaRa was able to remove 12 more items that were left behind.

Windows 10 removes Java from your computer after you finish the installation process.

Remove Java on Mac

If there is, you can uninstall Java by clicking on the icon and then selecting Uninstall from the menu. If there isn’t a Java icon, then Java is probably not installed on your Mac and you’ll need to check to see if it is in System Preferences.

If the Java icon is not there, that means you do not have Java installed on OS X. You can either choose to keep Java installed, but disable it in Safari, or you can click on the Java icon in System Preferences and then click on the Java Control Panel. The Security tab will show you how to uncheck the Enable Java content in browser box.

Click on the Internet plug-in settings button at the very bottom next to the Security tab.

If you want to uninstall Java on OS X, it’s a bit technical. First, open up the Terminal by clicking on Spotlight and typing in Terminal or by going to Applications – Utilities and then Terminal.
