Windows XP Volume Icon
In the Computer Settings dialog box, click on the General tab and then click on the Keyboard and Mouse settings: In the Keyboard and Mouse settings dialog box, select “Use a keyboard and mouse combination” from the drop-down list: In the Keyboard and Mouse combo box, type “Microsoft Windows” into the text field and then click on OK: In the Computer Settings dialog box, you will now see a new setting called “Keyboard Layout”. This setting is important because it determines how your computer responds when you use a keyboard with different languages. To change this setting, select it from the list of options and then click on Change: Now that you have changed your keyboard layout, you will need to restart your computer to take effect. To do this, select restart from the list of options in the Computer Settings dialog box and then click on OK:
In the Sounds and Audio Devices window, click on the Playback tab. Under the Playback section, you will see a list of audio devices. If you don’t have any audio devices installed, Windows will ask you to do so. To test your microphone, click on the Microphone button and then click on the Test Microphone button. Windows will play back a voice clip and tell you how well your microphone is working. ..
I like Classic View because it’s easier to get to what you want quickly. Once you open the dialog, you should already be on the Volume tab.
If the “Place volume icon in the taskbar” option is unchecked, you need to check it to make sure it’s set to show up in the taskbar. If it’s already checked, you need to click Apply and then again click Apply. Your icon should now be visible in the taskbar.
Windows 7/8 Volume Icon
In Windows 7 and Windows 8, the taskbar got a huge revamp. The process is completely different, and icons can now be combined to save space. This is nice, but your volume icon may actually just be in the grouped icons rather than it’s own icon on the taskbar. Make sure to check that first. ..
If you go to the Control Panel and click on Sounds in Windows 7/8, you won’t see any checkbox for adding the icon to the taskbar, but instead all the audio inputs and outputs on your system. However, if you right-click on one of these audio inputs or outputs and select “Add as Icon”, then you will see a checkbox for this.
In Windows 7/8, to hide or view the volume icon, you need to customize the taskbar. To do that, you simply right-click anywhere on the taskbar and choose Properties.
This will open the Customize Notification area. You can change the following: -The color of the notification -The sound of the notification -The vibration of the notification
Second, make sure the Show icon and notifications for all apps check box is checked. ..
To turn system icons on or off, go to the bottom of the screen and click on Turn system icons on or off. ..
I need to make sure the volume is on.
That’s it! Sometimes this happens a lot, especially after you restart your computer or log off. If the sound icon keeps disappearing over and over again, you need to update the driver for your sound card. You can do this by going to the computer manufacturers web site and downloading it from there, i.e. Dell support, etc. Any questions, post a comment. Enjoy!
