The copy still works for me, but I have to keep clicking OK to remove the error message. After some reading and playing around on my own, I’ve learned that this error can happen for all kinds of reasons and there are a number of fixes you can try to troubleshoot the error.
When you try to copy data from Microsoft Excel or Word, you may see this error. Here are some possible solutions to help you fix the problem. If you have a different solution, please share it in the comments.
Method 1:
If you copy a cell and then try to paste it into another cell, Excel may give you this error message. You can try to press the ESC key to deselect the copied cell and then try to paste again.
This method might let you copy one time, but you may still get the error message on the next attempt to copy. It’s not a permanent fix.
Method 2:
In Windows, you can open the clipboard by left-clicking on it and choosing “Open Clipboard.” This will open the clipboard in a new window. Sometimes this can help get rid of errors.
You can open the Clipboard by going to Start, Run and typing in clippy.exe. You can also go to Windows\System32 directory and double-click on clippy.exe.
Method 3:
If you’re using Remote Desktop, you may get the Cannot Copy to Clipboard error because Remote Desktop uses the clipboard and it can cause weird issues with Excel.
Task Manager can help you kill processes that are causing your problems. If you have UltraVNC installed, it may also be the culprit! ..
If you’re having problems connecting to your remote desktop software, make sure you’re running it on a computer that’s connected to the internet.
Method 4:
To automatically calculate your financial data in Excel, go to the Calculation tab and make sure “Automatic” is selected from the three options. In newer versions of Excel, you click on File, then Options and then click on Formulas in the left-hand tab. ..
In Excel 2013 and later, you can use the shortcut key (Ctrl+Alt+F) to open the Formulas dialog box. ..
Method 5:
If you have a program like GetRight or Flashget installed on your computer, you will have to uncheck the option for “Monitor the clipboard” in order to use it.
If you are experiencing problems with copying text or images from one application to another, it may be because of a third-party program that is using the Windows Clipboard. To fix the issue, uninstall any software that you know uses the clipboard. ..
Method 6:
To clear the office clipboard, go to Edit and choose Office Clipboard. This will only work for Office XP and 2003. Now click Clear All to clear the office clipboard completely. ..
If you want to collect text without showing the office clipboard, you can do so by clicking on the Options button and selecting the “Collect without showing office clipboard” option. ..
Method 7:
Microsoft has released a hotfix for Terminal Services in Windows Server 2003. However, it may not work for you if you are using Windows Server 2003. The hotfix is for the Terminal Services feature in Windows Server 2003 and it has to do with the Terminal Services service. If you are not using Terminal Services, then you may need to wait until a later version of Windows Server 2003 is released that includes the fix.
The hotfix is available here: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=840872. ..
I was having trouble not being able to empty my clipboard. If you have another solution that has worked for you, please post a comment here! I’m sorry if this is a problem for you and I’ll try to find a solution.
